Adorn Us was born out of a deep love for the vibrant tradition of beads adorning hair – a love that began with sisters Jasmine and Sarai. As toddlers, their grandmother would lovingly braid their hair and decorate it with colourful beads, just as she had done for their mother, aunt, older sister, and even herself over the years. It was a family tradition that became a cherished art.

From a young age, the girls took this tradition to heart, spending hours creating their own bead patterns using every colour they could get their hands on. It wasn’t just about the beauty; it was about self-expression, joy, and a nod to their culture.

However, when they started school, they were told their beloved bead-adorned hairstyles didn’t meet the school’s rules. Determined not to let go of their heritage, the girls adapted by choosing bead colours that matched their uniforms. Even then, their styles were sometimes deemed “inappropriate,” but they stood firm, wearing their beads as a proud reflection of their identity and history.

As they grew, Jasmine and Sarai wanted to create a business and what better than something that they truly loved and enjoyed.
Their first venture was a stall at their school fair, offering braids with beads – and it was an instant success! They discovered that it wasn’t just girls like them who loved adorned hair; children from all backgrounds were drawn to the creativity and joy that beads brought.

Since then, Adorn Us has become a regular at events, where their braid-and-bead services are always a hit. The girls continue to expand their range, with the dream of helping everyone, everywhere, adorn themselves in ways that celebrate their uniqueness.
